Mavin Artiste, Di’Ja sets to host a benefit Concert as she raises funds to help children, Vulnerable Families and Health Care workers

One of Nigeria’s most favourite music artistes, Hadiza Olopopularly called Di’Ja is hosting an online benefit concert to raise funds for education and health care for three hundred children and 1,000 vulnerable families in Abia, Kaduna, and Lagos who have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The concert which is taking place on May 25th coincides with the African Union Day is tagged Di’Ja Live. The event is powered by iChange Foundation, a nonprofit that the singer and her husband established in 2018 to provide an opportunity for Africans to lead socioeconomic change on the continent. 

The Foundation focuses on education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship which are strategic to the actualization of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The Nigerian-Sierra-Leonean and Mavin artiste was appointed by the UN Women as a GoodWill Ambassador to Nigeria because of her work in social development. She joined other well-meaning Nigerians to raise awareness both online and offline to curb the spread of coronavirus through a campaign in collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and UNDP Nigeria. Her COVID19 awareness video in Hausa has since been broadcasted to millions of Nigerians. 

“This benefit concert is my own way of raising awareness about the urgent need to reach out to the poorest of the poor in Nigeria, to create an opportunity for them to have a better life, to aspire to towards a dream”, Hadiza said. ‘’According to UNICEF, more than half of the world’s children are no longer learning because of this crisis and I want to use my platform to raise awareness about the issues faced by millions of children from poor families in Nigeria and provide educational scholarships for three hundred of them”, she concluded.

The concert will be streamed on YouTube and Instagram simultaneously, it will feature fast-rising musical performances from Dammy Isaac and Sals Fateetee and it will be hosted by Jimmie Akinsola. According to Di’ja, the concert is also a way of creating visibility for upcomingmusical sensational artistes.

All funds raised would be donated to iChange Foundation to support her work in five communities in Abia, Kaduna, and Lagos that have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
