We had an opportunity to meet Confidence Imerhion the founder of @lookconfident, a platform that deals with footwear in Lagos, Nigeria. She gave us an insight on how she ventured into shoemaking and it will inspire you.
Lookconfident is designed to cater for every class or let me say the need of an average Nigerian, these were some of the words from the 23 year old founder. she narrated her gains, ordeals and how she started her business with just N1,500 and now has a multi-million naira value.
In a recent Interview with Newsmag.com.ng’s Publisher, Prince Ighodalo, she revealed a lot and the most interesting part is how her brand has created jobs for young people in Lagos.
She added “There was a certain day in July 2018, i stumbled on a man under the pedestrian bridge in Lagos, who makes and sell footwears, He grabbed a handful at his usual spot and had many on the floor. Sincerely i am not the type that is easily persuaded to get things along the road, except i go to a store but that day was exceptional, maybe because it had a unique design or the colour, i eventually payed N1,500 for just one and the next day, i stepped out, rocking the N1,500 footwear, my friends loved it and doubled-the amount to get same footwear and that was how the Lookconfident brand started.”
Looking at the economic situation in the country and with her level of commitment so far i wanted to know if she had a sponsor or a form of grant from anybody.
Her response “Like i said initially, i started my business with just N1,500, and have been increasing the numbers ever since. No sponsorship or grant from anybody, though family at times come through but i am very independent, i am a go-getter, i make things happen, ever resilient, maybe thats why my friends say am an extrovert”
Confidence has since established her presence off-line with outlets in Lagos and Ogun state and also sells online, you can contact her via her Instagram account @Lookconfident
