Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a personal plea to Ed Woodward for the club to ‘speed up’ a deal for Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils will be without Champions League football once again but that’s not stopped them aiming for the best talent out there. They are desperately looking to strengthen their team this summer following last season’s sixth-placed finish.

Sporting midfielder Fernandes has been identified by Solskjaer as a priority midfield target following Ander Herrera’s departure.

They face strong competition for the Portugal international with Tottenham also interested.

However, both clubs are refusing to meet Sporting’s €70m (£63m) valuation meaning negotiations have come to a halt.

But Solskjaer is desperate not to miss out on the talented 24-year-old who bagged 31 goals last season.
